Beer Cafe the best hidden secret in Glasgow?

Next top on the reviews of bars in Glasgow is a bar in  Merchant Square called Beer Cafe, with more than 100 beers on offer, Merchant City bar Beer Cafe more than lives up to its name and with a prime location on Merchant Square, Beer Cafe is designed a little like an Italian Cafe, with red leather seating, mirrors and white glass lights but rather than ordering a macchiato, cappuccino or espresso, this cafe pours out pilsner, weisse or dunkel with beers from (almost) every continent and a quirky pie list, you can enjoy a pie and a pint in the heart of Glasgow.

However when I go I will rarely opt for one of the many selection of beers I have discovered something much more interesting and refreshing a strawberry daiquiri for just £5!!! Now where can you find that in town and that's not even on a deal that's every single day what a bargain.

The vibe is very casual laid back have a few drinks and chat the night away opening at 11:30am each day (12:30 Sunday) and closing at 12am you have plenty of time to come enjoy yourself  for a spot of lunch, dinner or late night drink.

The Beer Cafe has large windows looking on to Candleriggs and tables in the courtyard of Merchant Square with Tables spilling out onto the street they are snapped up pretty quickly when it's sunny so with summer coming up it may jut be the spot to go when the weather starts to brighten up. If you've ever been curious to try a beer from Greece or from Portugal, this is a perfect opportunity to extend your horizons. You can get a bar ticket that can be ticked every time you buy a different beer and when you have 25 you get a free t-shirt. For Beer lovers, this is paradise! The Glasgow beer café has taken the world champion of beer Kevin Febers, co-owner of Beer Café, carefully selected the beers on the tray based on customer favourites at the bar, which stocks almost 100 world beers you may  even feel like you are transported to the beer of your choosing's origins (if the weather every improves that is).

With a rating of 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor shows that is very popular among the general public with the great selection of beers one of the many reasons for the high rating. From my personal experience the staff have been nothing but lovely and the atmosphere has the right mix off music and chatting, I would highly recommend Beer Cafe to anyone looking to mix it up from there usual spots in town you will not disappointed with Beer Cafe.

Solid Rock Cafe

Photo Credit ( Solid Rock ) For many years Glasgow's watering holes have appeared and disappeared just as quickly but one constant that has always remained is the Solid Rock Cafe on Hope Street opened in 1987, the bar is commonly known to all rock heads in the Glasgow area as the place to go if you're looking for some heading banging eardrum popping rock music along with a cool pint. However, it's not just for Glasgow's fans of the rock scene but a hub lunch spot for local office workers and your average train traveller looking for a quick bite to eat at their convenience, despite its dark and hard exterior that could make you think twice about if it's  really worth  the trouble. By weekend Solid Rock is loud, crowded and there is drinks a plenty all night however by day throughout the week there is a slightly quieter (as quiet as you can get in a rock bar) more laid-back atmosphere.    Photo Credit ( West Beers ) For my choice of drink I ...

Coronavirus Lockdown Booze

Well as you all well and truly know by now the coronavirus has arrived and lock-down has ensued this has therefore left me with a predicament on what to write on my last blog post, as this lock-down has stopped me from going to bars and clubs the only logical solution to this is to have a bevy in your own gaff however this has also become more difficult as queues to get into supermarkets has now become a task in itself to just get in to them. So your best bet is to pop into your local corner shop and see what drink they have left on offer and that will have to do you for the foreseeable, now you're only supposed to go out and shops for essentials and well think most of would agree some drink is essential to us all to get through these tough times. When I made it to my local corner shop the choice was limited but I was able to pick myself up some cans of Strongbow Dark Fruits  cider I know I've failed my namesake but in these tough times tough decision have to be made and ...

Firewater

Firewater is a fun indie bar on Sauchiehall   Street promising (and delivering) real music and hard liquor. This bar is a major draw for students, with occasional live music throughout the week and w hile the music policy airs on the side of indie, Firewater punters know how to rock out too. The venue has attracted its fair share of big name acts and many an after party to concerts over the years, t his late bar in Glasgow is heaving seven nights a week. Cheap drinks and brilliant music (indie/old school rock/pop punk/disco), many people use this place as a place to pre drink before going elsewhere but it is open all night. The bar also caters to those who are looking for a wee bite to eat offering food in the evenings before the crowds really start to gather.  Now this is a place more up my street rather than the thumping tunes of the Solid Rock these are actually tunes that I recognise and know. For my trip to Firewater went on a Monday evening so I decided I would...
